New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Of note their March T&C that were published for sometime didn’t have lifetime SC exclusion.

I’m tempted to book and lodge complaint if DSC don’t show for lifetime.

Of course.....I just booked flights today
Probably could, but it's tricky enough to make the bookings at all.

Sometimes I fly as a carer with people with disabilities, and we need to call the Specific Needs line to make a booking.

I had already put it off for most of the week to make the booking, as I just couldn't get my head into the space of making a phonecall. (Time, availability, putting everything else on hold whilst being on the phone).

If however there is a DSC promotion, I may ask for some help for myself to do a status run alone to go from SG to WP.....that'd be a nice treat.

Sadly don’t count toward LT status and I have a 30 September member year end, so would seem to be unfortunately zero value to me and likely many others in the same boat.
There was a suggestion elsewhere that these are apology “gifts” for the data leak. As a September anniversary, having already qualified for next year, and one of the more affected by said leak, this is trash if so

The changes made this year (green tier, loyalty bonuses, now this) have really soured me on QF. Pondering whether to even continue with them. The remaining carrot was LTG which I’m currently around 5 years away with minimal earning but.

Ironically I don’t even use DSCs to get a significant boost towards my status. It’s just a pattern of trash that is turning me off

For those with status locked in for the year, there is precisely zero value to be gained in booking during the promo period, right? Unless the increase in fares is somewhat offset by the meagre bonus points…

I wouldn’t be surprised if LT accumulation is a thing of the past for all DSC moving forward.

Works out well for me. I'm short on platinum renewal this year with October 31 anniversary. This should secure it for me without too much need for random status runs

Normally 150 SCs at the start of my member year would be a nice leg up, but forward bookings already have WP sorted by Feb 2026.

The 2500 PC points will marginally help retain PC…

Might actually select Double Points in the DSC promo. Those*, plus 2x QBR and 2x QF Hotels could be handy for retaining PC and QBR tier.

*except I’ve already max’d the 20k flying points towards PC/PC+…

Let’s hope the “not counting towards lifetime” part is just a one-off — when has Qantas ever done anything generous? I hit Gold about eight months ahead of schedule, but as more of a leisure flyer I’ll likely fall well short of Platinum, even with the loyalty gift and this promo.

I’ll either sit this one out or maybe front-load my travel into this membership year (instead of early next) to cover the 350-credit shortfall and experience Platinum for one year before the soft landing back to Gold.

My flight tomorrow requalifies my Plat status....as my membership year emd 31.10, the gift of 150SCs is useess for me. I guess i should be overjoyed by the gift of 2500 points as a PC member :(
I totally agree that having a 31 October membership year end is the pits when they pull this sort of stuff!

I have 719 SCs at the moment with 14 more to come, having carefully planned out falling over the line to SG. The 80 SCs are nigh on useless given they don't contribute to lifetime status. Similarly, a Qantas hotel booking with triple points in early October will give me more than enough to requalify for PCP so the 5000 points there also do little on that score (although at least I can use them for a flight at some stage I suppose).

I possibly could get to WP by booking a status run from MEL to ZQN via BNE (getting the loyalty bonus) but it's looking exxy pricewise in September and I'm away in October.
