New Qantas Logo

I like the idea, but I too had no idea what it was until I came across this thread. Like RichardMEL I thought it was something to do with American Airlines.

I would have thought that much more awareness would be raised if there was some sort of reference to the Red Cross on the QF website.

Besides the banner advertisement? ;)

edit: which is exactly the same as the picture the OP posted. Which now makes me wonder why the OP didn't click the "find out more" link.

I guess it's not always possible to see the wood for the trees.

Is this a new QF logo or is my computer playing up

I'm not seeing any such banner ad on QF.com though?

Its to do with the Blood Bank drive for Blood types O and A.
Meh. Read from the start next time. Been advertised a lot.

I read from the start again, for the second time. It is still not helping understand why the OP had to ask the question then they've posted a screen shot from the advertisement on the qantas website that explains exactly what is going on.

I was haranguing myself medhead in case you thought I was having a go at you! :p

I had no idea what it was for. Could have included their little red + logo or the red blood drop at the end to make it more obvious theres something going on.

Now they have my attention, I wish they'd take my blood.

I agree. Someone at the Red Cross is earning their marketing salary. And well done Qantas for participating.
Not Red Cross really. This was created for the NHS Blood and Transplant service last year and has spread to other countries. Note Red Cross is not the blood provider for all jurisdictions/countries so probably explains why their logo is not present.

They wouldn't take my blood anyway. Apparently they have some problem with my disinterest in drinking water.

It's a scrolling slideshow - I didn't see when I changed my region to AU, the first time, but it did eventually click over. Only on the AU site (makes sense!), as the TH site doesn't have the large banner, just a boring small image and flight booking form.

I can see it now if I use Firefox. But still nothing when browsing with Safari! The scrolling slideshow just has the Global dream sale, an ad for QF hotels and something about a Macquarie credit card. Weird.

Wow that's odd - 'cause I'm using Safari too.
Mine starts with Olympic medalist on the Rings, then the Qantas plane and finally HKG skyline. (I did click the arrows to check them all. ;) )

From the Qantas 'Red Cross - Missing type campaign' page.

As a proud supporter of the Red Cross Blood Service and a Red25 member, Qantas is supporting the #missingtype campaign by removing the letter "A" from the Qantas website and social media channels.
(My bolding)

Are they? I hadn't noticed.

I guess it qualifies as an entry on the 'You know you are a frequent flyer when ...' thread ... when you tell the nurse which code she has to enter when they yet again can't use the whole blood I donate (just plasma) because of where I've been since the last donation.

At least it would be sterile!
How many people know their blood group. Former blood donor here and A+.

I've given blood a few times, just last time I went in they refused to take my donation because I had only had a coffee that morning. Something about dehydration.... blah blah blah.
O+

I didn't give it much thought when I saw it yesterday. Now that I understand, I actually like the idea, quite clever.

B+ can't donate due to weird blood cells. So I donated $ instead when there was that point bonus. :D

Are you my type? :D

Your blood is in great demand. Drink a glass of water next time.
