I would say, it would either be the A321neo borrowed from JQi and repained.
Or an A220 new.
Wouldnt be my beloved older bird(y) A330 or newer B787, thats for sure.
Seeing AirNZ uses the narrow body as well from ADL - AKL, most likely QF will do this too, ie, the narrow body, maybe 3 days a week.

At least now, when it starts, there is the/an option of paying for J ADL - AKL (direct), either for the space, or because your employer/payer is paying, better that being stuck in the middle of the A321neo/A320 that AirNZ flies ADL - AKL.
Or buying a comfort seat booking on QF.
Or the fact that QFF points dont expire, so long as there is activity, vs AirNZs Airpoints $ that will expire, 4 years after accrual, and can only use it for seat selection, cant use Airpoint $ for part fare payment, for us Aus residents, think NZ residents can do part pay, ie, 20% points and 80% cash/card.

Would Qantas repaint and put their cabin in on a Jetstar a321neo?!?

Wonder if the on-board service will be better than the east-coast to NZ flights (ie pretty much domestic).

What do you suggest gets added? Can’t do anything about the hard product.

I did OOL-SYD-AKL both on 737 J yesterday.

Differences - AKL had a newer aircraft with personal IFE. Real champagne offered as PDB and in flight. Meal was more substantial.

I agree it’s pretty similar to domestic but I’m not sure what else they could do?

Firstly they could serve breakfast on the morning flights instead of lunch. Chicken curry is not what I'm after at 9am.

Also why can't they do a separate drinks service (either before or after the meal)? Flight is perfectly long enough. I'm sure that used to be a thing.

I’m actually the opposite. I hate most aircraft breakfasts as I dislike and won’t eat most of the options so more often than not I just eat in the lounge beforehand

Nobody went thirsty on my flight.

Speaking of the jewel in News Corp's crown, the author of that article states "South Australia has been without any direct international Qantas flight operated out of Adelaide Airport since QF81 to Singapore departed in April 2013". I recall in 2022 QFi operated QF67 SYD-ADL-DEL. I think the return leg QF68 went straight to SYD without stopping in ADL. But, in any event, an international flight operated by QFi ex-ADL after April 2013, indeed in the last few years. Anyway, never let the truth get in the way of a good clickbait headline story.

Not trying to go off-topic, but just touching on the service standards point above. With the exception of one rather abysmal bit of cabin service (that Qantas righted with 20,000 points by way of apology), I've never had anything but good service coming back out of AKL.

And to give real credit where it's due, the NZ based cabin crews have always been a class beyond the AUS based QF crews I've had on trips back and forth across the ditch.

So does Tas . When Jetstar came into being the company wanted to withdraw all domestic QF services from the island. The pollies made sure that didn’t happen.
