New Qantas International Carrier Charges

I recently paid the international carrier charges for reward flight bookings in February and March next year 2020. I paid £239 GBP for a one way flight from London LHR to Perth in February 2020 and I paid $284 AUD for the return journey in March 2020 from Sydney to LHR. Yes old Wombledon is driving from Perth to Sydney in his VW. Taking the short cut. I know I'll lose 5000 points per booking but should I cancel and rebook to get the new carrier charges? Does anyone know what the new carrier charges will be for London-Perth and Sydney to London? Wombs

Maybe you need to make sure you can still book it using points, if so, make the booking, then cancel the other one.

To get the charges, just make a dummy booking.

I tried making a dummy booking but because I no longer have enough points it will not let me proceed so that I can see the new charges. I need just 60000 points to make that dummy booking enquiry. But they are all gone now. Just 10000 left. Wombs

Can you go in to Change your current booking, then select same dates and see if you get a CR of $$ and DR of points?

and you'll lose 6000 per booking cancelled not 5000 (5000 is change fee, 6000 cancel)

I can live with losing the 6000 points per booking because the new replacement bookings require less points to make. Obviously there will be no benefit to me there. But if there is cash saving on the carrier charges I might want to chase that depending on the potential saving.

I have check reward flight availability. There is no problem there. Wombs

So if you go into Manage your Booking you should be able to try Change to get the new $$$ amount shown?
