I think we were spoilt by the first few lists and have become a grumpy lot ever since, it pretty easy to lose sight of the fact that 5K of points is easily obtainable in one night so those hotels are a bargain, especially when you consider that 5K of points can also be purchased for $USD60, that places every single hotel on the list as having rooms for $60 an night!

Your right, I was thinking 5000 pts was $60 USD is around the normal purchase price, at $30USD its even better if you use the cancel points + pay method.

On another note, I am looking at booking the Intercontinental Times Square on Points plus pay and when I go to do the reservation it requires 40 000 points for the first night.
Does anyone know if this is the usual situation?

If you make a booking using points + pay and then cancel it the normal points needed are deposited back into your account, its 1/2 the price of buying them normally. THe IC times square did have a special 30K rate but its back up to 40K

I just tried it and got to the 30K+ $60 select room screen, I dont have 30K of points to go further
