Re: More flexible award booking and streamlined fees

Can United Airlines plz hurry up and hire you to fix the loyalty aspect of the program? I mean, they could go ahead and add a 25th status level or change stopover rules but the underlying fundamentals of promoting loyalty won't improve til someone like you gets involved. Your write up on psychology of loyalty programs is excellent.

Hear that United execs? You need dfcatch.

is there a link? I'm curious.

Re: More flexible award booking and streamlined fees

does this updates meant higher taxes ?? i booked the same flight (MEL-KUL, TG) last year and the taxes only about AU$45, and just tried the same booking it came up $80..

It shouldn't - but I have noticed some weird pricing with taxes. Random flights seem to have extra $$ amount required... whether that's tax or something else I'm not sure. On one day I looked an Air China flight to PVG had over $100 added, but on another day it was back at the 'normal' level.

I think the Australian passenger departure charge is in the $55 range at the moment? So the $45 is gone anyway.

Looks like UA have already partially implemented the stopover changes on their website (www.united.com).

I booked a MEL-FCO-MEL trip in business a week ago, and tried a similar booking on the UA website today. The cost was an extra 50,000 miles. I double checked that the flights and fare classes were exactly the same.

Just goes to show the impact of the "enhancements". However, no-one seems to care, but that's OK (no wolves at my door).

What was your attempted routing and did you have stopovers in there?

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Well, the "More flexible award booking" system changes have now been implemented, and it's actually worse than outlined by UA (why am I not surprised?). Mileage Plus miles have been somewhat devalued. For example, you can no longer have a SQ sector in a multi-sector itinerary, except at a higher price.

Details at Updates to MileagePlus Multi-City Award Travel & Award Fee Changes - FlyerTalk Forums.

Hope everyone with UA miles burned at least some of them before 6 October.
