hello, myself and my wife aee am planning to go to rome in April next year in April and return mid may. looking at utilising our qantas frequent flyer to get sn upgrade. We have sbout 300000 points . Any advice would be most welcomed.

Unless you have status with AFF I think it would be hard to get a points upgrade.
Now I looked at awards and I did find a few Premium economy awards mainly out of BNE to HKG. but 77400 each so you could not go further but economy awards from HKG-FCO were 37400-45000 so you could get to rome in April 26 on award flights.
But a real surprise on 21/4 2 F awards on CX HKG -FCO. at 149800 points each which means the 2 of you could have a first class experience on 1 leg.
