New Istanbul Airport

There's finally a direct metro line to Istanbul Airport open now.

In March, we land at Saw and depart from Ist, so will checkout the Metro from the city to Ist. :) Edit: looking at the metro map below, it looks like you have to change at 4 metro stations if you are coming from Sultanahmet area before you get to Kagithane to catch the train to Ist!...so it might be easier to take a taxi / Uber if you have luggage! https://www.metro.istanbul/YolcuHizmetleri/AgHaritalari

I was checking this out recently and believe there is a direct bus SAW to IST, depends how much of a hurry you are in but seemed relatively well priced and scheduling wasn’t bad.

Screenshot_20230125_225051_Uber.jpgI priced a Uber recently from SAW to our hotel in Istanbul...if you take the highest price of TL 577, it is ~A$43....with 2 pax and baggage and at night, I will be catching an Uber :)

Interesting to note that they’ve planned ahead and have an IST terminal 2 station on that metro line before there is even a terminal 2. 👍
Maybe it’s a future LCC terminal, although they tend to fly to SAW. Maybe a domestic terminal?

Speaking of SAW, here’s what it looked like on descent into IST in late December. Highway construction ongoing and then the new runway can be completed.
