I haven't seen that issue thankfully -but still impacted by the error that lands me randomly in the middle of threads which I've already read! Same as before...

Still getting that one, and the "you're not allowed to post" errors.

and the "you're not allowed to post" errors.

I've started to get that recently, as well. It's now at the point that I just copy the text after I've written it so that if I get the error, I can go back and post it again without starting over. Lesson learnt on a large post!

Cheers,
Matt.

This is what I do. I find you can head to "locate members" and then back in to sometimes fix the issue, or simply quit the app completely and re-opening fixes the problem. Not ideal, but handy to know if it happens.

We haven't seen an update from admin, or an update to the app in a while either.

Apologies if this is alreeady logged; on android app, running N on a Nexus 6p, no private messages load - it looks like my inbox is empty.

Ok here's a problem that commenced with an update.

Motorola Moto G 3rd Generation updated its Android operating system to version 6.0.1

Since the upgrade I can open the AFF app and see the list of threads. When I tap on a thread to open it, it opens to a blank page.

If I push the back button it asks me if I want to close the app.

Can't do any thing else with the AFF app.

I think its time we performed the last rites.

Well another lost post due to this bug. I am seriously over the app. I find myself using AFF less and less, and it grates that I paid membership for access to post via a dodgy app that won't actually post.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with the same result. There's now a blank space on my screen where the app used to be. :(

Whilst it should do so, when you uninstalled the app and then reinstalled, did you ensure that the cache and other files related to the app were completely cleared?

One time I had this kind of trouble, deleting all the data and cache seemed to solve the problem, at least temporarily. Of course, having to do that each time it does not work (which was often enough) isn't satisfactory.

Done and still failed.

Hmmmm... in that case, I have no idea what's going on.

I'd like to think it isn't your flavour of Android that's doing it.

For whatever it is worth, the AFF app is still working on my Lenovo Tab, which runs its own flavour of Android (not too far modified from stock), currently Marshmallow. Surprisingly, I can't remember the last time the app has failed or stalled. Given that the device only has 1 GB of RAM and very little internal storage space left, I would have thought that it would or should fail slightly more often.

I wonder what kind of test environment the developers of the app are using for the Android version of it. I hope they aren't simply using a simulated environment to test it. That said and done, without actually being a member and posting on the forum, the testing developers probably can't do proper testing anyway, so maybe they just take some faith and leave that up to us?

Maybe the developers should consider adding some sort of "debug mode" which can be turned on via Settings. This could log distinct actions that might help the developers understand where and how the app is stalling when it experiences an error like you have described. Of course, this mode necessarily slows down the app and the log should be cleared once in a while to ensure it doesn't balloon into a space hog, but when the app just stalls, there's no stack traces or the like created unlike a crash or a system recognised freeze.

Hi, I just downloaded the app and tried to log in. got the message 'you don't have permission to log in'. Whats up with that ? Is that the app? Or do I need to buy a membership to this site to use the app ?

You do need to be a paid member to login to AFF via the App. See AFF Membership Levels —

You should be able to register for free then log on. Paid membership shouldn't be needed. Good luck

This is not 100% correct. Anyone can register and login to AFF for free via a web browser. You do need to be a paid member to login to AFF via the App.

I have the new version on my new iPad Pro and my first post on it wasn't allowed as a I wasn't logged in but I'd previously just 'liked' something.

When you say previously, how long was the period between the two actions?

Possible a minute or so? No longer than five minutes. It was on the same thread.

Lucky my iPhone isn't updated and my older iPad is fine also but it was an 'aha' moment for me of the problems still being experienced. (I did update the iPhone back in 2015 but was able to downgrade it from my PC).

And I miss Princess Fiona not being able to post so much. :(

Weird you would be logged out for no reason. My guess is the current app has a session timeout limit which kicks you off after Xx/minutes.
I have noticed a `like` can trigger and appear to work even when logged out. You won't see it didn't actually like until you refresh the thread or view on another device.
Assuming you were logged in for the `like` - Was your like and post from the same network? ie: Was your `like` on 4G, but the post on wifi?
