Just came across a report in the Australian that a factory fresh 737-800 for Qantas will be delivered in November wearing a new Indigenous artwork livery. Story linked below. Couldn't see it posted here yet.

I think it's great news - although would rather have seen it on a widebody which would be seen all around the world instead of just in our own backyard - but still better than nothing!

Can't wait.

Can't believe that the last aircraft was launched in 2002.

Hmm different

That's it?!

I know it would cost a fortune but surely painting an A380 in some kind of unique livery would be a far better marketing opportunity than a 737 given the A380s only fly to high-profile destinations?

it is relevant to the artist and the region they are from..it tells a story...just like any other indigenous artist and art...(or any artist or art)... QF is showcasing just another 'type' of indigenous art...of course some will like and some will dislike..IT'S ART!! (btw..i like)

Well I actually like it. Simple. But will attract the eye.

To each their own.

I like it. Looks like a Rover Thomas special!

I saw a smaller photo earlier and couldn't make out what the paint job was at all, looked like there was a crack in the plane. However when you see it bigger it does look better, and I do like it for the most part. I'd just prefer some regional aircraft got in on the action too.

Simpler scheme, looks more modern aboriginal art to me....

Also less paint, so less fuel penalty I suspect.

Generally like it, apart from the front.

RR...someone has the spelling incorrect...is it MendoowooRRji ?? or is it MendoowooRji?? or are both correct... other media outlets are using a single R spelling...ive googled both spellings and they seem to relate to the same topic

The correct spelling of Mendoowoorrji is with a double "r".

Not to be confused with "RR" (my initials). :)

Hi Red Roo,

As someone thats worked in remote communities for quite some time, i'd love to know the story behind the art? Is Qantas privy to it?

Cheers

Wifey says that if qantas paint the whole qantas link fleet in indigenous artwork that we'll move our travel over to QF!

Personally I didn't like this artwork to begin with but it's grown on me a lot today.
