So much for the new engines being good....

Qantas is facing fresh frustrations over its fleet of A380s after a defect was found in a new engine at a factory in France.

A possible faulty oil tube in one of the new superjumbo's Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines has forced the manufacturer to delay slightly the transfer of ownership of the next superjumbo to Qantas at Airbus's plant in Toulouse, according to a leaked email.
"One step forward and two back! We can't take a trick in getting more aircraft into the air and back into service," Qantas's fleet manager said in the email to pilots obtained by the Sydney Morning Herald.

However the article in the Australian says that the suspect engine was not one of the latest type C Trent 900 engines but an older version.

According to ATWOnline it was an 'A' series:

In a related development, Qantas’s seventh A380—on the production line in Toulouse—required one Trent 972 engine changed because it was a “Mod A” with the faulty stub pipe thought responsible for the Nov. 4 incident. The aircraft is due to be delivered Saturday. Qantas confirmed to ATW that it refused to accept the latest A380, named Charles Ulm after the pioneer aviator, until the “Mod C” engine was fitted, which was completed Wednesday.
