Well I'm loving the new Lavazza coffee machine at HOTP, freshly grinds the beans and makes a pretty cood coffee. I always seem to get a cold coffee at HSW from the George Clooney machine there. There was ceasar salads and curried chicken and rice in the lounge last night along with the usual fare of cheese biccies and dips etc. Always lovely staff in the Exec Lounge, nice to catch up with Violetta who has been here over 30 years, she is lovely to catch up with, always a smile on her face.

Hey - I was at HOTP last night too!
I agree with you about the coffee and that chicken was delish!!! The delightful young lady working in the lounge is fantastic too.

Coincidentally, I asked the guy in HSW lounge this afternoon if he could increase the temperature of the water in the Nespresso coffee machine. He had a look at it but my next coffee was no hotter :(. He did offer me a coffee from the restaurant but I've had enough coffee today .

I wonder if its not been descaled for a long time?

The Nespresso machines are quite simple and low cost. I doubt that there is even a realistic coffee temperature adjustment.

Those pod style machines are like ink jet printers.....and we all know how much we like buying those ink cartridges.

By my calculations, 1kg of beans is about $30 in Australia if buying as whole beans, 1kg of coffee purchased the Nespresso pod way is about $150/kg.

Fantastic to see the brand value that a star like GC can bring to the brand convincing people to pay 5 times the price for a product. I read recently that he has received about $48M in endorsement fees since starting that gig. Matt Damon this year will get about $2M in his first year on the payroll.

So, I sent some feedback to HSW and received an email reply from the General Manager:

"I greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the ..., as well as the temperature/quality of the Nespresso coffee in the Executive Lounge - We sincerely regret any disappointment caused on this occasion and please rest assured I have relayed your important feedback to ..., and also our Food & Beverage Manager for review accordingly."

It will be interesting to see whether HSW move to the same type of coffee machine as HOTP when it is due for replacement.
