I am doing SYD-SIN return trip this weekend on BA16/15. Do these flights have the new club world seats? Any info is greatly appreciated.

From what I have been reading lately, if you're on a 777, you will be on the old CW. They have only tested one 777 with the new CW so far and will be putting it into the others over the next year or so.

They don't as far as i'm aware of, the 777 I flew LHR-SIN-SYD last July was actually pretty tired, so you'd hope they'll hurry up with it.

As precious as some of us get about seats the OCW isnt too bad - except on the 777 they have the world's smallest screens in long haul business class. Dont expect to be able to watch anything comfortably.

Just enjoy the friendly service :)

Yes you're very right Simon, aren't we all spoilt....you only have to fly one long haul sector in Y to conclude you'd happily swap the most comfortable Y seat for the least comfortable J seat any day, and as you say, the old CW is still a good product.

I am flying HKG-SIN-SYD to avoid a whY seat HKG-SYD - to paraphrase Charlton Heston "If they want my J seat they are going have to put my cold dead a$$ in a whY seat" ;)

I do think the IFE in OCW is very bad - especially for a day flight...

Well, I decided against booking this trip. I was going to use my qff points for this trip.

BTW how come the only availability on syd-sin J is only ever in BA? no QF metal J seats are available no matter what date I search.

For the same reasons posted above. The BA product on that route is not considered as good as QF's product by many people, so the QF award seats are sold out very early and they can sell the remaining J seats for real money without difficulty. BA have more difficulty selling their J seats on the route, hence leaving availability for award seats.

I believe the initial availability of J in flights like QF9, QF10, QF1 etc are snapped up on day-353 by people who are prepared to pay an additional 2,500 QFF point assisted booking fee.

Yet it is quite possible to redeem J seats on SYD-HKG on QF. Why the difference?

I presume it's partly because some people don't recognise SYD-HKG-LHR as a valid route to London, or that other carriers like Cathay Pacific or British Airways actually fly 'weird' routes like that. I don't believe the timing is that great either, but it does depend on what carrier you take through to London.

I have never seen much availability SYD-HKG-SYD on QF awards - hence flying home from HKG via SIN...

No, not much availability, but certainly very possible to get two J tickets way, way in advance. Which is more than can be said for QF SYD-SIN.

I phoned on the day that they became available to AAdvantage members - there was no J availability at all - CX or QF HKG-SYD for any day close to what I wanted...
