This from an A|Club e-mail

Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen, Singaporedue to open on February 12, 2009
This is the first international budget hotel in Singapore. It has 538 modern rooms and is located right in the city center, near the fragrant streets of Little India, the shopping districts of Bugis and Orchard Road and only 20 minutes from the airport.
Additional bonus: benefit from a special rate of 120 Singapore dollars per night in a standard room including breakfast for two in the TASTE restaurant. Valid for all stays between February 12 and May 31, 2009. Reserved for members who have finalized their registration on the a-club.com website.

How do you book this online?

I can't seem to get this SGD120 rate including breakfast for 2 ...

I can't either, but the offer of 2000 bonus points for 2 stays is more interesting to me :)

I wouldn't exactly call a $120 a night hotel "budget". Well, not my budget.

For Singapore 120 a night is very budget for a hotel like that.
When i read it and the location i was about to wonder aloud if they also rent rooms by the hour ;)
I may check it out for a night just so i know whats its like to advise friends etc looking for cheap hotel.

During my wanderings the last stay in the Little India area was SG$107 - room seemed like twice the size of my experiences with "low priced" groups. Broadway Hotel has been there for a while but now participating with internet booking, though no real discounts.

YMMV it's not an international chain.

Re: New budget hotel in SIN + Sydney

I did a bit of investigation about the hotel and the offers mentioned. You have to be an AClub member (that's Accor's hotel club) to get the S$120B&B rate, the usual rate for the Ibis Singapore is about $148. But I see AClub is offering a bonus of 2000 points when you stay two nights (at any Accor hotel) before the end of March. 2000 points equates - according to their site - €40, so if you add that bonus to the special Ibis Singapore offer of $120B&B a night, it is an incredible deal.

On the subject of Ibis, I stayed in a new Ibis at Sydney's King Street Wharf just before Christmas. It's a funny hotel because it's packed into a tiny block on the corners of Erskine and Shelley Streets. But it was just a 5 minute walk from Wynyard and I got an incredible A$99 deal, so I was very happy. I think that must have been an opening deal because at reception someone else asked about that offer and they were told it hasd sold out. Still, even at $120 - $140 it would be great value. Small rooms, but such a great location and all the bars and restaurants at King Street Wharf just a few minutes away.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

G'day Tavare, welcome to AFF.

Yes you do need to be an A|club member for this offer; I log in but it still does not show the SGD120 B&B rate.

Joined myself to A|Club, and was able to see the SGD120 rate fine...

Oh, and for anyone else who joins A|Club - make sure to add BONUS500 in the promotion code for a bonus 500 points on signup.

Thanks heaps for this. My accor advantage mebership just lapsed and I was about to sign upto A|Club anyway and I desperately needed a hotel in SIN for 20&21FEB so this is a bit of a boon.
I have now signed up and l have to wait 24 hours before booking.. hopefully I can write up a short report for everyone next month.
cheers

Yes, that would be greatly appreciated. Would like to know what this property is like before booking it in September, just have to wait for availability to be released for when I intend to stay (Bloody F1 race).

It may pay to check your Advantage Club membership. Mine expires at the end of March.
Although I took advantage of the complimentary night whilst in Singapore last April, my details show that I still have a complimentary night owing. I mentioned this to friends at lunch yesterday who have been long time members and they say that this happens quite frequently, particularly when the stay is overseas.

If I rejoin before the end of March, I have been told that the complimentary night can be carried over, giving me two complimentary nights - in effect paying for next year's membership. I haven't tried to do this yet, but if you want to get the carry over, don't phone at weekends as the Saturday switch operator I contacted said that the supervisor who is able to approve the carry-over is only on duty during the week.

Can't say that I've found the Advantage Club card much use in Sydney. Tried to get the two for the price of one lunch at the Sofitel Wentworth but it only applied to the a la carte and not the lunch "special". Otherwise there's really only the renovated Novotel at Manly near to where I live or my friends tell me that the Summit is also included.

I assume you're talking about the Advantage+ program ?

I was with advantage plus for 4 years, I had many a free night in asia as many never posted becasue they expect you to supply the voucher.
somehow these slip thru the cracks and I managed to get a number of good discounts. however I let it lapse in September as I am based in the UK and its not getting value for money here. But the A[Club seems worth it as I still tend to stay Accor.

Don't mean to be rude but I would not consider a special rate of SG$120 in the budget category. I would hate to see the room rates after the introductory specials are over....

But i think they are thinking this hotel is budget compared to the many 5+ star offerings.
Singapore hotels have been really expensive last 12 months... signs are that there is more of the cheaper nights available now though.

I just booked the room, but I forgot to add the Bonus500 code in.. oh well.
typical price for this hotel I think is going to SGD$139 at least it was before I logged in and got the $120.
Will write up trip when I get there.
Cheers
