New benefits on Virgin America

Noticed this online today ....

We are pleased to announce that from 2 October 2012 Platinum, Gold and Silver members will enjoy new travel benefits when flying with our partner, Virgin America.
When travelling on Virgin America operated flights, Silver members can enjoy Priority Check-in and Priority Boarding, whilst Gold and Platinum members have access to Priority Check-in, Priority Screening and Priority Boarding.

I'm flying with them in December .... but in F so getting those things anyway! I wish that lounge access was also in that list...

Which seems odd to me because every flight I've been on with VX has been full, including first class. First class isn't cheap with VX either, sometimes it is double the cost of Delta for example. So if it isn't making money by now my guess is the other airlines are doing even worse!

It's quite a hike to the Clubhouse in SFO from their gates though...

It's not their lounge. They have arrangements but even their own top tier and (last i looked) first class passengers dont get in for free.

But that's my point. I think that Virgin AUSTRALIA should be providing lounge access.

F passengers in the US generally don't get lounge access, nor do top tier FFs. Lounge access is only to paid lounge members. But through QF I get access to Admirals lounges, even though equivalent tier AAdvantage members don't.

I just dont see how they could do that. It would require them to set up some kind of arrangement in all the key VX ports with a third party provider (which even VS is) and in many cases the lounges in question are in whole other terminals and more or less useless. I have long list of things i think VA should be working on -- this is very low on that list.

Yes, but AA have the lounges in the first place. Virgin Australia has made an arrangement with Delta that allows for the same thing where Delta has a lounge. In which ports has Qantas built or brokered access to a lounge for its own guests flying AA where AA itself doesn't have one?
