Card Promotions New ANZ Frequent Flyer Black 110,000 points & $100 back

Must be one I have not dealt with in the past. Be interesting to know which one.

I think it’s NAB. I remember reading the disclaimer when closing a card recently and im fairly sure it was the NAB QF

I have closed a NAB card and not missed out on any points for the last billing period. And NAB even provided a pro-rata refund of annual fee (not sure if they still do that).

Could be a recent change… I just dug the letter out of the filing cabinet, definitely says all QF points will be forfeited in the final statement period. Who knows if that’s what actually happens in practice or not (my final statement was $0 so couldn’t check)

You approach would seem to be a good strategy. I often leave a card open with no transactions before closing it just to make sure I have not missed any regular/automatic payments. Just need to be organised to stop using it at least a month before the annual fee is due.

I signed up for this card with the bonus 110,000 QFF points after a spend of $5,000 over 3 months. Can anyone tell me how ANZ calculates the date by which the spend has to be made?

Looks like this has just changed to 90k bonus points with only $100 annual fee reduction. My 12 month exclusion period ends on Wednesday and I was going to apply Thursday. Pretty average deal now.

Unless there is still some third party indirect offer at the old rate?

Yeah, saw this, unfortunate, they had one of the best offers previously imo

I hit the minimum spend on the first day I got the card with a month long AirBnB booking. Surprised I didn't get the bonus on the first statement - they've been very quick with it in the past. Not that I'm in a hurry. Glad I got in before they dropped it to 90k. But the last time I had this card it was 130k. They're really making it less and less enticing for churners. 90k is still great though

90k is still great though
It is less than half the original value proposition. 140,000 points (including points for spend) for $170 was 0.125 cents per point. Now it’s 100,000 points for $325 so it’s about 0.3 cents per point. Still better than Everyday Rewards, but this must be one of the poorer value credit card offerings.

True, when comparing against other earning cards the ratio isn't great any more, but when you consider the possible value of 100k points, e.g. redemming for SYD-LAX in J, it's a steal.

Can't remember if I've ever had ANZ card fee refunded pro rata...

If we are closing the ANZ FF account, would we still get the points earned during the closure month? Anyone has ever experienced this?
I've got my bonus points and looking to close the account, but wondering if I should wait until the next statement before I close the account.
Just to report back. I ended up closing my account mid-cycle and (after closure) I have just received all points accrued during the cycle.

I had the same. Hit the $5k on the second statement but points didn’t come in. From memory ANZ was usually pretty quick.

My cashback and bonus points posted in the following statement. May have hit the spend a little too close to the end of the previous one.

Pretty painless really and an easy 110k points. First time in a while that a dealing with ANZ hasn’t resulted in an AFCA complaint

Same experience, bonus points came quickly.
If you close account half way through billing cycle do you forfeit those points?
