New Amex statement credits

Can you claim a deduction for the amount you donate minus the credit? So if I donate $70 and receive a $20 credit, can I claim $50?

Response from my accountant is that YES you can claim the difference in the donation less the credit received.
I suspect quite a few AFF members may have bigger issues than a $20 Amex credit...

Quite. But why attract a desk audit that might uncover other more significant items.

I know it says at the hotel desk only, but has anyone booked a pay upfront room and had this credit come through?
I tried calling the hotel direct and getting them to book a prepaid rate. Sadly, no credit as they didn’t seem to use the hotel terminal for the spend.

However, a few weeks later, when we reached the target for actual spend (meals, drinks etc) at checkout the email was received and credit was earned.

I’m not sure if anyone has a different experience.

Delicious Month Offer until June 1. 20% back up to $25. Primaries only.
I had 2 Delicious Month offers on the one card ... odd.
Checking the "participating locations" on the map I have businesses highlighted that are unrelated to food. I wonder how I'd go at Brunos Auto Detailing, or Charm Beauty Lounge?

Probably depends on how Amex has coded those businesses. Please let us know if you bite the bullet.

Edit: The Charm Beauty Lounge may be (coded as) a cafe/coffee shop. 🤣

I think the map shows where Amex is accepted rather than participating locations. The map around south Canberra shows vets, dentists, car washes, etc when clicking on "View participating locations".

Further illustrating the map feature is not what it should be, the "locations nearby" links just street addresses linked to Google maps, some with a view of the whole of ACT.

You can set filter "offers" and that shows the location of some establishments, many appear to be food places, but names them "marker" and clicking on them may or may not reveal a name.

In short, map's borked. I'm hoping someone on OzB posts an excel list or similar.
