New Amex statement credits

For the Hilton offer spend $300 and get $150 back, has anybody tried buying vouchers from here Hilton Melbourne
Did it trigger it?
Any ideas on the best way to book 3 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids ? it comes to about 550-650 on the net , but you need to pay in one lump sum. I am thinking of calling them to book over the phone and then maybe they can split payments? If not maybe I can buy gift cards over the phone, and then use them to pay for the accommodation? Any other ideas?
cheers

I don't think it works over the phone. I read somewhere about going to your local hotel reception in person to buy gift cards so that you are charged from the hotel reception directly.

Worth checking the T&Cs. For example, the Langham offer does include telephone bookings as well as online and in person.

Here you go, my bolding:

'Book directly with Hilton Portfolio of Hotels & Resorts' refers to booking or reserving a room via any 'Hilton booking Channel'. Booking channels include: Hilton HHonors Customer Care (Call Centre), online channel (for example, HHonors.com, Hilton.com, Hiltonhoteldeals.com); or directly on premise with the hotel.

I might call them and suss it out
When I am booking rooms, I can't seem to use vouchers to pay for it.
There is family package for 550 per night, want to book 3 of these, and ask them to add $50 room credit to each night, then split payments (300x2)*3 for each night. Breakfast and dinner sorted for 3 days :)

I had a similar error with the date using Safari on a MacBook, switching browser to Chrome solved my problem. Worth a try!
What does the date resolve to on your successful ones? Some browsers give me a date of birth dropdown, others (chrome) have manual entry (01/01/1900 for example) but both return the error.

OK now that the whole HN Vpay deal is largely behind us, back to other offers!

My question is: how many of the hotel restaurants have been validated to work for the various cashback offers (Hilton, Langham, Accor, Marriot, etc.) without being part of an associated stay?

A friend has confirmed that it works at some Novotel (Accor) restaurants. Anybody tried any of the others? i.e. does the restaurant bill as the hotel, rather than an independent entity? Or can you buy gift cards that qualify for cashback, that are accepted at the restaurants?

So is it possible to buy an Accor GC (Novotel GC ~ ?) and use it at a Novotel restaurant?

I wonder if it is possible to prepay F&B credit? It would be interesting for Accor plus members too as you could get some very cheap (in absolute terms) steak etc. as you would stack discounts

:( I run out of cards. Between the QF, Accor and Hilton offers I've managed to pocket ~ $1,600. Pity - I've got a truckload more spending that I need to do for all three...

Supplementary cards fully utilised?

Would you of booked those hotels anyway?
How did you go about booking hilton if I may ask :)

Yes, all work bookings paid with other people's money :D I booked direct with Hilton and Pullman .... even joined their loyalty schemes. Kinda handy that the Hilton is right across the road from the Pullman (Cairns) don't even need to change the sat nav.

From their website:

Where can I use my Accor Hotels and Resorts' Gift Card?
You can use your Accor Hotels and Resorts' Gift Card at more than 210 participating* hotels, resorts and apartments in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. The value on the card can be redeemed for accommodation (publically available rates apply), food and beverage consumed in the restaurant, mini-bar, in-room dining etc. while you are a guest at any participating Accor property.

The bit that I bolded seems to be the kicker.

I assume HN VPAY is dead now ?

Bought one yesterday to test, got amex confirmation email, but having trouble getting the VPAY card activated. Dealing with their tech support at the moment. Seems to be a system error on their end as they've confirmed my voucher is live (i.e. I don't think it's blocked by HN)

I won't be buying any more until I can get the money off the first vpay card

Edit: now working and off to buy two more.

Re HN offer:
Given it states..."Save the offer to your Card and spend $300 or more, in one or more transactions, in-store or online at Harvey Norman by 30/12/16 to receive one $100 credit. Limited to the first 60,000 Cards to save the offer. Exclusions apply."

Was thinking, even if the $300 vouchers are 'sold out', wouldn't buying a $250 voucher and $50 (or any two combination totalling $300) still trigger the offer? Albeit costing an extra $5.50 fee.

Would people agree?

Should be fine though consider 2x $250 as youve already copped the fee and if it works for you

There are many ways to gain value, and for some more value, than just focusing on VPay alone and you have to 30th Dec anyway.

VPay is of course good for some. In my case I am extracting more value that if I went the VPay way. Different strokes for different folks.

I have managed got 3 vpay last week, all $100 received. But I still have 13 amexes to go :( Original plan all vpay paying ATO BAS.
