New Amex statement credits

What happens to refunds with these promos? Does it reverse the offer?

I know that a refund is based on the original transaction so AMEX could technically detect this.

I know it says Instore only , anybody had luck ordering over the phone and asking them to post ?( Myer or DJs ) and will they split a sale to 6 transactions ... Lol

Interesting story:
So I rang DJS Sydney and spoke to the lady on phone, and asked if I could buy a gift card over the phone - flat out said no, get them from post office , or in store etc.
Chatted to DJS online, and the gentleman said yes of course you can over the phone, ring up and order it, and get them to post it out.

Rang back and asked to be put through to toys - I'd figure I would get better luck talking to an actual sales person, then the reception.
Young guy said yep that's fine, so I asked for $400 worth as I have 8 cards all up. No problem, started putting it through, we get to card 7 of 8 , and he goes so there's 59.95 left (Should be $109.95 left - $9.95 postage + $100 for 2 more lost of $50)
Uh oh, whats wrong, oops I put through one of them as cash, I need to ask my supervisor what to do.
He comes back and says I need to refund it ALL, and start again. Ok Sweet nps I say. We get the refund done, then start again, then he gets interrupted by his manager and he says sorry, my manager has said we don't do gift cards over the phone.
I ask to speak to manager and ask why not.
He says "it might get lost in the post" - I say, "errrr what happens if I buy an item online, it may get lost in the post, whats the difference" - sorry it's against policy. OK mate, so tell me why not ..this time really.
" cause it's a gift card, worth money, not an actual item" ...I'm thinking to myself...ok this manager ain't gonna budge. But I'll keep trying
I tell him you can buy giftcards online, he says no, they are egiftcards. I tell him to check his owe website, you can order physical gift cards, and pay $10 postage, ITS ON THE WEBSITE. "sorry it's against policy" .

Anyway at this point I'm over it...so I get his name and number and tell him expect a call from DJS online tomorrow with correct information.

I check my email, and got 6 AMEX emails for the cards that were charged... :-D ...so hopefully even with the refund, I get my statement credit...apparently people get credits even when they refund, so fingers crossed...
It might work out better in the end..lol

Bought at DJ Melbourne today. Store came up on internet banking as Buckley's and Nunn. seems like a store they bought ages ago. Hope I still get my cashback.

Jeez, that annoys the **** out of me when stores don't update the business name that is stored in the card machine or they use some SMSF trust name T/A something else.

Extra odd as DJ bought them in 1982! Plus I purchased from the same terminal a few days earlier with no issues realised I actually received an email from AMEX Offers for the spend.

Has anyone received emails or better still credits for using same Amex card at DJs Market and DJs Elizabeth? If so were they for purchasing gift cards?

Have received emails for GCs at both DJ stores but still awaiting credits

All my credits came through for both stores. It did take longer than usual (a week). The credit also just says "Amex Sydney" rather than the merchant as it usually does.

Did not know about this deal, and just booked Maldives. My hotel is in the supported list of hotels. This is a saving of over $1500, but I booked a non-refundable fare. What to do? Maybe I'll kindly ask hotel for a refund.

So after an hour on the phone to Expedia, they have kindly honoured the 10% discount (~$1300 AUD back in my pocket). Just thought I'd let anyone know if you've booked through Expedia recently.

That was extremely good of them to do that on a non refundable booking. You need to ensure that you give them some business in the future...

Slightly O/T but does paying a credit card debt using another using a postbillpay from another credit card count as a cash advance?

Cashrewards paid me last time when the coupon code was used on Expedia. You could score another 5.5%. Won't hurt to click the link from there. If they deny cashback, move on. If approved, have some extra cash! :D

I just booked using 10% code and this $40 statement credit. CR tracked another 5.5%. Will see if they pay this time.

I did a number of last minute purchases at both DJS stores in Sydney & Myer for the Vogue offer registered all card beforehand but only received a few emails. Hoping I'm going to get all the credits I'm expecting.

New offer this morning (currently on my Platinum Reserve only via App) -

Expedia Hotels - Spend 200 get 40 back

You should be able to combine this with the 10% off deal from Amexconnect.com.au to make a very nice saving overall.

If someone could post a manual link to this offer it would be appreciated as I have a fair bit of accommodation to book (and four Amex available).

I'd be grateful for a manual link too.
