Sat on a new 737-800 tonight from SYD-ADL..........IFE in seats needed rebooting, but was still impressed. Impressed as I didn't have a 737-400 as too many of my ADL flights have been, impressed that the new plane didn't go to jet connect...and impressed enough to consider not shifting to VA on this route if this becomes mainstream. Thank you qantas x

I was on one MEL-HBA on Friday, impressed with the IFE (similar to international QF).
Does anyone know if the rest of the fleet will get these cabin upgrades?

Hmmm. Interesting. were you on QF1013?

I have also been on it a couple of weeks back Sydney to Adelaide
I liked how the entertainment was working as soon as I got on and it kept working pretty much all the way to the gate

theres generally at least 30 minutes from the time you sit down until the time you take off in Sydney if you do the long taxi and wait for a few other planes

whilst I didnt watch a movie, this would leave plenty of time to watch most of the movies they have on offer

I haven't heard of any refit of existing planes. There are, however, a bunch of these new planes coming, replacing the 734s.

Business class seats are just international premium economy seats covered in a grey fabric.
Economy has a very low cost 30 inches of pitch, compared to Virgin's 31.5 inches.

And in comparison Virgin Australia:

Yes, were you?
I was in row 4 and was initially annoyed at first as I couldn't change the radio channel using the shiny new side panel buttons but then noticed the fold out in-arm TV screen and voila! Nice new IFE.

On good thing about the IFE on these planes is if they need rebooting they can be done on a seat by seat basis. On other planes often it has to be done to the whole row interrupting the other passengers in your row.

Yeah, I got one of the 737's with AVOD on a CBR-MEL flight the other morning... I found a few TV shows, but didn't see any movies available. Unless they disable the movie section assuming no-one would want to start but not finish watching a movie in an hour long flight.

In any case it was a nice surprise.

I've been on a few of them now. Great in Y and makes the BNE-MEL legs seem a lot shorter, the J seats though are poor. Very limited recline and the legrest doesn't come out far enough to be of any use. I wouldn't like to be stuck in one on an overnight flight.

I have sat in both.

Looks are great and the DJ seats certainly look better in the photos (although when seated it's a bit clinical).

However, I find the QF "PE" seats far more comfortable and would pick them over the DJ ones for any flight, all else being equal.

(Aside: Don't get me started on the horrible J seats used on the T-T ZK- Qantas fleet. QF seems to have realised the mistake they made as they are not installing them any more.)

No, but it seems that the new aircraft have been operating that flight on Fridays for a few weeks now... if it continues well me like very much!

I love the J seats on these birds

Ouch! 30 and 31.5" ... I remain underwhelmed despite the newness of it all.

I really like the IFE in the new QF 737-800s. I've flown on a BSI DJ plane too - in the front of economy - great leg room, but where's the IFE?

I think you Mean VH-VZT, VH-VZS is not a BSI. VH-VZT is. VH-VZL onwards has the new IFE.

VH-VZT is the first with the new Boeing interior with IFE (as displayed earlier in the thread)it only arrived a week or so ago,I believe doing CNSBNE this arvo

stangely the QF web site indicates J would have leather seats yet the earlier Pic was def cloth...anyone actually seen the interior of VZT?
