Need Help With Melbourne 5* dig's

Ah yes, was there for an afterparty during Spring Fashion Week. Great place, totally fierce. Was going to suggest it but I didn't think the crowd was what jaffa was after, then again the regular crowd might be different.

Acknowledge your point. Why i suggested the Wine Room. Seating for say ??? 16??? in nice leather couches, away from the madding crowd, intelligent / knowledgeable sommeliers.

And yes it can be 'fierce'. Lots of suits, attractive ladies, good coughtails, and crowded later in the week......

Owned by the same people just the other side of William Street is Negroni's. Cafe and Bar on ground floor and nice atmosphere bar downstairs.

Another fantastic coughtail bar not 5 minutes from your hotel is Lily Black's, it's tucked down a laneway as are all great Melbourne bars but here's a link to it:

Also as a bonus at the Little Collins St end of that laneway is Bar Lourinha, about the coolest tapas bar you'll ever find (at least in Australia.)

Elegant/sophisticated, laid back, good Martini's and single malts, good red wine selection. some sort of background music. Not too young a crowd. business style, not to casual. excellent service, friendly atmosphere. somewhere where l won't feel out of place in a jacket and sometimes a tie.
I like it when they remember your name and choice of beverage. I work in high pressure and when relaxing like to sit back and people watch or enjoy intelligent conversation with interesting people who know how to handle their drink and maintain respect.
so the Qantas Club is out of the question, then

Clients foot the bill for the air travel on this one, so l have dom J tickets return.

From the given/requested information, you must have an interesting job!

I am keen to see how the new seat allocation system that QF has just introduced works for me this time round.
fully paid J should give me great allocation, but l have been reading some bad reports By QFF Plat's re allocation, so lets see what a QFF Gold receives waving the cash.

I can't see how it's possible to get a "bad" allocation if you're in J, unless you're trying to bag the 1st row (closest to the door). Just hope you get a 738 or 763 which has some sort of divider away from the plebs; 734 (convertible J) doesn't have the same calm factor to it.

I'd postulate that J allocation is first-come-first-served rather than the rigmarole calculations that ranks every WHY pax.

Anecdotal evidence: all my Dom J was either points upgrades (from S or K cash tickets) or classic awards. By using OLCI early, I've managed to bag 1A three times, and I was a QFF Silver (no Qantas Club) at that time (now QFF Gold, but no J travel yet since new status). Then again, all three of those three 1As were on 73x aircraft; I've also flown J twice on 763 aircraft and 1A was unavailable when I tried to check-in. (I usually then choose 3A because potentially means a blank row between me and the person in row 1 if the J cabin load is light.)
