Hmm, the OP was asking about a "domestic" status run, and all our suggestions have involved destinations such as AKL, LAX, BKK, SIN, HKG

Just goes to show where the better value status runs exist
Unless in WHY, for international only Y fare gives the full SC, then for OZ domestic there are more WHY fares that give you the full economy SC.
I think the discussion diverted to international "J" due to the fact the the OP only had a short period of time to get the SC which left a lot of domestic flights....

Just domestic is pretty tricky these days.

Fuel fines cause way too much grief with getting cheap SC's.

The LAN idea is probably the cheapest and quickest to do with minimal setup. The issue is whether customs in either NZ or Australia start grilling you big time about your "true intentions".

There are also some other costs for a LAN run, including one night's accom in NZ for the first night and airport transfers.

Domestically, I think is still possible, but I don't see it being attainable for much less than $2000 - and that would involve around 3 days worth of flying and possibly accomodation for at least one night.

For around $3000 you could probably do it in a day.

... Now if you were starting overseas :)
