Hi Chaps

My sister-in-law with her 3 kids and husband arrive tomorrow morning @ 0555 on SQ221 - the witching hour!

Does anyone know of any software / telephone numbers I can use to track the flight to see if it takes off on time / is delayed tonight?

I've got to try to plan the logistics of getting a wife and two kids up and out to the airport to meet them - or not depending on the news....

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers

You can receive live flight information via SMS.

From http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/SACL/Flight+Info/default.htm:

Simply text SYD and the flight number (eg SYD QF44) to 188-7425. Within a few seconds, you'll receive back the current flight time and related status information. The cost of this service is 95 cents per SMS, which will be charged back to your mobile phone account (only available for Australian mobile customers).

I also use the phone service 131-223. Even though it says "Welcome to the Qantas Flight Information Service for Sydney Airport..." you can get flight information for other airlines. I don't know if this works for SQ but I used it on Sunday evening when picking up a colleague who came in on MH.

Thanks for all the tips & advice. After getting two sleeping kids out of bed at 0545, we missed them comming through as they landed 30mins early!!

Cheers

SQs SMS alerts are great and free other than whatever your call plan costs (relevant when roaming internationally).

I've only used them as pax - you'd need to put your number in their SQ profile. Also not sure it handles late departures well when the delay is at time of boarding (as opposed to known in advance) - since the txt is sent out 4 hours prior.

You can use the following link from Singapore airlines to get the status

http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/MobileServices/MobileServicesMain.jsp

If you want SMS, enter your mobile No and you will get an SMS with a PIN no that you will need in the next screen.

You can set the alerts at different intervals..Really great...

I have not looked at my bills in details..not sure if it costs anything if at all..
