G´ day there all!

Just a simple matter. I usually travel solo but have family in tow at the moment. Next Tuesday am exitting Australia via Sydney, and it will be the first time I get to take SWMBO to the First lounge there. She is very excited by it, and wants to make use of the ¨spa¨etc. These are things I never look at.

Any tips for maxing her experience in this lounge? It is about a 6pm departure that arvo, so we can be at the airport hours earlier. Do you need to make a booking for the spa treatment?

Also, have kids with me (very well behaved girls, 7 & 11). Is there any place for them to hang out, or should I just take them around the terminal?

Any advice much appreciated,

Juddles.

Hi Juddles,

I have taken my children to the F lounge multiple times.
As per the comments in the lounge access section of the Qantas page. "In addition to your normal guest allowance you may also bring up to two children, between ages 4 and 17, into lounges operated by Qantas."

Apologies, I don't have enough posts to paste the link

So you won't have any problem.

Enjoy

Agree with GoSwans my family loves the F Lounge. We sometimes book one of the suites so we can relax and make use of the time. The F Lounge staff serve an endless line of food and drinks to the room :)

Hi.

You will have a great time! Bring the kids and the wife too.

Unless you are flying F or CL- you unfortunately cant book the spa.....when you get process at the concierge desk, ask them to phone the Spa to see if there are any free slots. Facial or massage are the options.

The al carte restuarant is great- the staff are fantastic...Andrew is great, always keeps the flutes full.

Enjoy the arch design.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

All the suites today were empty however booking is a good idea as the princess pointed out. Let the lounge know it's their first visits and I'm sure they will treat you well.

Fiona, what are these ¨suites¨? I only ever dash in there for a shower or a drink. Seems my wife intends to park us in there for a couple of hours - suites sound good. Any more info on these? :)

are the suites- the meeting rooms when you turn right from the main desk?

As above they are the little rooms with the glass doors on the R hand side of the lounge.
Ring the desk to book.

The suites/rooms are great and you can ask for food to be served to them - no need to drag all your bags around. We've previously asked on the day but booking in advance is safest. As for the Spa, not much you can do when not flying F but be lucky sometimes!

As a family of 4 (kids 11 & 9) we prefer to sit at one of the two round tables in the general dining area.

After a late lunch or early dinner just plonk yourself down in one of the many lounges & enjoy the view.

what if you have kids under 4?

what if you have kids under 4?
"Children aged 3 years or under are not counted as guests for the purpose of determining the number of guests of the member."

So theoretically no limit on children so long as only 2 are older than 3 years. :p

We travel with our 11 year old...there are a few tips as has been mentioned....ring the lounge the day before and request the large round dinning table , they are generally happy to reserve that for families.Secondly as has been mentioned ask to reserve one of the "Suites" "Offices" these to are great for families as it has the large flatscreen TV computer etc and the Team are only to happy to bring drinks food, fruit cheese platter etc while you are there and don't forget to hook into the Boli or Veuve or whatever is going :)

Any chance of getting a 3rd person into the F lounge ?

I will be Plat and traveling in F (most likley) so can bring 1 guest

Any previous success of a 2nd guest (the 3rd person)

Are the suites in the MEL F lounge more or less the same? I'm guessing they are the ones in the "main area" on the opposite side of the restaurant, and on the RHS just before you enter the spa/shower area?

What if your 2 children travelling with you (all on the same PNR) are twenty somethings - what chance of guesting them in with MrsAV8 (QF SG) - buckleys/none? or should I ring the lounge prior to arriving at the airport.

G´day all, just a bit of feedback.

We had a lovely time in the Flounge. We had lunch at the round dining table, wife loved the food - true consistent amazingly good qualiity of each dish - well done Qantas!!

Wife also enjoyed a session at the day spa - I enquired as we went in and they had a perfect timed slot available.

We did not use the suites - after the meal we hung out at the library end which was devoid of others. Very pleasant.

And simongr, great to see you! First other AFF´er I have met!

All in all a very good experience for my family. I almost always travel alone so it was great to share the good side of frequent travel, which usually causes only suffering, not enjoyment, to my family.

Only problem is my wife now wants us to be based out of Sydney on a FIFO contract to somewhere just offshore. ;)
