Narita - short stop

Here's a pretty good guide on Narita if you're considering an overnight stay or stop of 4 or more hours.

Thanks for posting this, I have an overnight stay in May and I'll be flying early to ICN.

A lot of the airport hotels offer free shuttles to Narita town and Aeon Mall.
Narita Hilton has good prices especially for HHonors Gold & Diamond where you only have to pay for one guest and spouse stays free .

Aeon Mall has a great 100 yen shop ( you can always find something you didn't know you needed at a 100 yen shop :shock: ) And there is a good sushi place to eat as well. There is also a Starbucks there.


But if you go into Narita town and walk down from the station past the McDonalds, there is a great shrine at the bottom of the hill, and along the way you pass a row of old shops and restaurants - a very pretty street.

I'll check out that mall tomorrow and go along that pretty, narrow street. The hard part was walking back uphill, if I recall from my previous visit. Oh, and have dinner. Maybe visit the temple. Also recall lots of incenses.

Took train to Narita town, about 10 minute trip, then walked two minutes to hotel. Nice and warm within. Let's see what Sunday's like.

I used to love doing that walk and stopping for some freshly cooked eel and the smell of roasting chestnuts (when in season). There are some nice little restaurants along the street as well.

Just take the train into Central Tokyo, it great and takes no time at all.

If time allows that's a possible option. But for short stops Narita is close enough to have an excursion. Even then, with inclement weather you'd want to make sure you're not risking missing your flight.

A week ago when I was there Tokyo had its worst storm in over a decade, causing flight cancellations. Even train service between airport and Narita town was disrupted. Airport shuttle buses helped.
