HI,
i have just join here and i have a question, i have booked a flight awhile back on for myself and mother, at this stage now she is unfit to be able to travel with me...which mean a name change has to occur for someone else to take the flight with me. I have enquired about it but the fee are crazy, $40 each way..plus the difference in fare price from when i bought them to what they are on the day of the name change.

Is there anyway around paying all this money which i have been told is actually more then the 2 return tickets costed in the first place.
I would pay the $40 each way for the change but the rest is total crazy, especially as the events to my mother being unfit to travel were out of our control.

Any help would be much gratful for.
Im flying Jetstar by the way.....but if i cant get around this fee i think i will have to cancel the whole trip...losing the original flight payment alltogether.

pleaseee help

Sorry about your mothers health.

But the terms & conditions are what they were when you purchased. Jetstar are only saying what is in the T & C's for JetSaver and JetSaver Light fares. With a LCC you can expect very little.

Many airlines do not allow name change

If you check-in online and have no checked baggage, no identity checks will be made.

I probably would be checking-in online, but there is checked baggage as we would be goin for like 4 days.
I dont want to risk not changing the ticket and having a male with a females tickets....would be in big trouble

Ahh - you want to change name & sex? that's another complication.

Do you or your mother have travel insurance? Perhaps you could claim on that for a) her ticket and b) you being unable to travel due to loss of your travel companion.

For me, I'd have a much better holiday knowing that everything was going to go right with my travel partner being offloaded for violating the T&Cs.

Cat246,

Welcome to AFF.

I am not suggesting you should be happy about it but surely paying an extra $40, as listed in the T&C is better than losing the whole payment and missing your trip.

The issue I believe is a $40 extra to change name plus the difference in price of the ticket now that it is more expensive. That's what I gathered anyway.

Yes Sam you are right, its the $40 each way plus extra in fare difference, a major difference in price.
