NAB Signature prorated annual fee refund

Yes I'm well aware of this and have multiple cards open myself. My point was that the min limit on the NAB Black card is 15k so holding the card to collect the 2nd year 30k SUB may also impact the credit assessment when signing up for other cards.
So you have both the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card and the NAB Rewards Signature Card open at the same time and get both set of points?

I dont bother with the low limit cards with tiny sign-on bonuses - not worth jumping the hoops and damage to credit score.

I tend to only do the black cards, anything under 60k bonus i wouldnt bother with I tend to just go ANZ -->SGB-->NAB and am happy to keep for 11 month each, or 13 months if I get pro-rata refund on the seond year fee from NAB so the 2nd $30k points only ends up costing $15 or so.

I know Dr Ralph and others have way more apetite to churn much quicker. Everyone's needs differ.

So has anyone been successful with their second annual fee still being eligible for a refund?
Don’t want to let it lapse and get 30,000 points for another years fee…
Thank you

I just cancelled my QF Signature card a couple of weeks after the second year's annual fee dropped, and the 30k points were credited to my QF account. The agent said I would be refunded the whole fee & confirmed in the payout figure. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm cancelling mine in a couple of weeks once the points drop.

Did you call to get this done? What was your balance at the time, $0?

I recently got the Qantas rewards Premium, bonus posted in the first statement and I want to churn.
Churn baby churn.

Mrs moo just did the same, will hold a couple more months though, my turn next.

Called to cancel, phone agent had to confirm with another team, unfortunately they were firm with no pro rata refund of the AF, even though it was open 1 month.

Seems to be a lucky dip as to whether you get someone who will do it or not.
Have there been any reports (outside of this thread) in the last couple of months where they have done it with the first year, not second year fee?
The announcement was almost a year ago now.

I believe I've seen some people on various forums have luck with some banks who officially say no refunds, but can't remember exactly when and which banks. I'd say it is the exception rather than the rule — most people are being turned down, from what I can tell.

I'd hazzard a guess the banks would be on the lookout / from upon the cancel within a month or 2. They know what these (us) are doing.

I believe we generally believe that paying ~$300 fee worth the wad of bonus points.

Had a good run with refunding the AF after 1 month. All these good things re; rewards points etc coming to an end more often than not lately.

Sadly, no refund for me when I cancelled my NAB Qantas Platinum the other day. I shall console myself with another glass or two of Dom when I fly in EK F in March using the bonus points from the churn.

(Also, it's worth noting that NAB's non-Qantas rewards cards award bonuses very quickly after meeting the minimum spend. If you can close the card before the first statement, you will avoid an annual fee.)

Have done this with a few different cards - St George, ANZ, Amex.

Was this your first year annual fee or your second? Some people have said they will refund the second year fee

First year. No real need to keep the card alongside my (non-Qantas) Citi Premier, as the earn rate's nothing special.

Anybody recently had their second a year fee refunded?
I’m about to tick over and get the extra 30,000 points but not really worth it if I have to pay the fee for the year.

Thanks
