NAB Changes Sign-Up Bonus Exclusion Period from 12 to 18 Months

I can only speak for the NAB ones I have; Suncorp, Qantas Premier Platinum and NAB rewards Signature - all applied/approved/bonus points given over the past couple of months. No dramas with those ones... as long as they haven't changed the T&Cs recently.
Great news @crh66.

Side note, you mentioned that you've applied for them quite close together - so no issues with credit scores by the sounds of it? I would've thought that applying too close together you'd get denied?

Nope, no dramas, each card was applied/approved, in June, July and August. I had 2 FF cards prior and cancelled one in April and the other in June after the first new card was received.

..working full time and mortgage free now so expect that helped (even though mortgage payout seemed to negatively affect my credit score), also selected the minimum credit limit on all cards.

Cool. That's very encouraging. Good on you (being genuine, not sarcastic).

@crh66, an extra question: with Suncorp, did you have to wait the stated 6-8 weeks to receive your bonus points or did you receive them earlier than that?

No, I received them a month after activation, when first statement was issued i.e.
- card activated 17 or 18 August.
- exceeded the required $3k of spend on 22 August.
- bonus points received in FF account on 16 Sept.

That's refreshing to read.

So if I have understood correctly, if I've just closed a NAB Qantas Signature card and apply for a NAB Rewards Card I can still get the bonus points??

That’s my understanding (as long as you haven’t had a NAB Rewards card in the previous 18 months).

Got knocked back for a NAB Rewards Signature Card after initial approval. I have just sent a closure letter for my NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card as in speaking to them today they suggested that the fact that this card was still coming up on my account may have been an issue. Has anyone had any luck in getting them to reconsider their decision to decline? Is it just me or is it getting harder to apply for cards?

Does seem to be a little tricker. I got knocked back from Westpac despite having all my banking with them (250k+ annual salary).

NAB a week later, however, were fine. Got the rewards card and got the bonus despite having a QF card in the last 9 months or so. Min spend was reached before the card even arrived (and bonus points applied virtually right away).

Spoke with them about reconsidering knockback. No joy. Have since received Suncorp card and may be able to reapply for NAB card in 6 months (so they say).

I am having the most ridiculous time applying to NAB. That include exlaining over the phone a paypal transaction of 16.99 AUD they saw on the bank statement I provided. Lat week. Now they ask for ATO income statement. Apparently another 3 to 5 days to get a decision.

I closed my Qantas Premier Platinum in Feb 23. I got the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature in Nov 23. Does anyone foresee an issue with getting the Bonus points?

No issue to expect. Qantas premier is simply a seperate product, doesnt matter which underlying bank manages the product. As long as you didnt have a NAB branded credit card in the last 18 months you are good.

Actually, you could have an NAB Qantas and still be good for an NAB Rewards within the 18 months.

Ohhhh I see, the t&cs exclusion is specific to the reward scheme. And I guess this has been put to test? Did you o that @N860CR ?

Phew! Thanks for that. Can rest easy on that one.

I completely missed this change in terms and applied for the Signature card after only 12 months and then was wondering why the bonus points didn’t come through.

Pleaded for mercy with NAB and as a good will gesture they transferred 120k points (it was only supposed to be 90k with a further 30k on first year renewal). We have our mortgage with NAB which may have helped.

Points Club Plus now sorted for another year, 4 months early. Thanks NAB.
