NAB acquires Citibank Australia

Just got the email re MyCard.
I wonder how long the
Code:
continued access to the valuable features and benefits of your card
will last?
* FFFL
* QFF points earning
* 2 Priority Pass passes per year

The cynic in me says the benefits wont last.
But the video says it’s our ‘ticket to more’! It all sounds so positive. Definitely could not mean more fees…..

Wonder what's to happen to existing citi points. Should we move it out prior?
Some frequent flyer programs have expiry dates, like SQ is a 3 year hard expiry. If you transfer now when there is no change, then you are just making your points expire earlier.

From “Citi Premier” to a gift card looking card.

What are the thinking 🤔

I pulled all my points out today when I got the email.

What did NAB do when they took over Coles credit cards from Citi? (removed benefits)

What did NAB do when they took over CitiPlus accounts? (removed benefits)

There is a certain precedent here… it’s just the time period before it happens. They might give ‘My Cards’ a year or two before it gets the 🔪.

I don't know why NAB ever took over the citibank card business, maybe to create a loss on their balance sheet. I know of so many people who have cancelled their cards
I cancelled my Coles card when the Int fee free finished but I still hold the Prestige card for now . Maybe I'm missing something.

So when do we need to transfer out to VA/SQ by?

No such info. NAB had not said anything about changing anything to the current reward program.

I assume if Citi Points convert to NAB

Have you seen some NAB documentation saying that this is the plan?

This discussion is insane, and reminds me of Dr Karl explaining this sorts of thinking (and conspiracy theories) once (possibility should be during Triple J science hour):

'Someone walk pass the gate of a big house, and the gate was wide opened, smashed up, then see a kitty walking out. So, that person would conclude that a kitty is capable of smashing thru a vehicle metal gate.'

We might be able to take advantage of vff bonus in November which is normally the case. Hopefully no points changes as I've got over 800k sitting in citi.

Good to know about VA promo like this. People should be taking actions because of numbers, which gives them a benefit, not emotions.
