So I logged into my mycard account which was previously Citibank to see if they were honouring the bonus point offer whereby I get an extra tranche of points (50k? 100k?) if I kept my card open for more than 12 months.
So this month I was credited 100000k points (equivalent to 50000 VA miles) as a result of "anniversary bonus points"
and an additional 100000k points as a result of "anniversary bonus points reversal - error"
However both transactions are positive and I have landed with 200000k extra points.
In addition I didn't get charged a $700 annual fee - yet.
Needless to say, I instantly converted my balance into VA miles.
I am okay to keep my card open because I will need to use my Priority Pass more than a few times in the next six months.
I am just wondering whether anyone else here has experienced similar. Incompetence all round. But when something like this happens (let alone on Friday the Thirteenth) and it seems too auspicious to be true, it probably is. If they find the mistake and I go into negative balance, will they make me pay for it some way when I close the account?
NOTE: This is not the first time that a miracle on points has occurred for me. In the past I referred ONE friend onto Amex and received the 20k bonus MR points - in those days worth double what they are today. I received three extra tranches of this MR bonus without referring anyone, and they were never reversed.
