I have a Circle Pacific trip coming up, booked via my TA on QF paper (I think that's the correct expression).

Looking on 'Manage Your Booking', I notice that the sectors are grouped as follows:

"Flight 1"
HBA-MEL (QF)
MEL-LAX (QF)
LAX-LAS (AA)
with a duration of 35 hrs

"Flight 2"
YYC-YVR (on Air Canada- separate ticket)
YVR-HKG (CX)
HKG-KUL (CX)
with a duration of 39h 30m

"Flight 3"
KUL-SIN (MH)
SIN-MEL (QF)
MEL-HBA (JQ cs QF)
with a duration of 16h 25m

Just wondering if anyone can say why MYB would have grouped the various sectors into these 'flights'. The only thing I can think of is that they are the 3 gross 'legs' of Out from Australia, Nth America to Asia (furthest point). Return to Australia, but if the individual flights are there, why group them and label the groups 'Flight 1/2/3' etc? Also, Circle Pacific fares aren't sector denominated like this.

If the time between flights is <24hrs it'll pick it as a connection not a stopover.

Sorry, don't understand relevance. Within those groups or 'flights' there are mixes of 2-3 hr connections and >24 hr stop overs (eg HKG is a stop-over). Wondering why quite separate flights (in the regular sense of the word) are put into groups and called 'Flights' and given a duration. Not a big deal, just trying to figure out how MYB works.

I suspect your TA may not use Amadeus GDS, and those segments have been fed into QFs system with the preceding and following flights as info segments.

Essentially QF systems can't see the whole ticket (even though you believe it is on QF stock)

My e-ticket has a Galileo reference number, so I suspect you are correct re the GDS and that that's a large part of the reason the ticket has translated onto the QF site the way it has.

However, the QF site is seeing the whole ticket (and also the one separate preceding AC ticket in the middle, which is normal). LAS-YYC is surface.

So the (trivial) query remains - why does MYB group the multiple actual flights into 3 groups, and call each group a 'Flight', with a duration? Probably some obscure coding reason, but interesting (for me at least) to know more about how the systems work.

For comparison what does checkmytrip and viewtrip show?

Viewtrip shows the 9 individual flights, as individual flights, all correct etc.

Haven't used checkmytrip before; I put in the Galileo ref number and my name and it said it couldn't find anything.

The grouping of flights is an Amadeus thing hence why I mentioned checkmytrip. It is done automatically and not by the TA nor QF. Use your QF PNR in checkmytrip.

OK, thanks. Yes, checkmytrip does group the flights into 3 lots. Something learned. :D

I've not used checkmytrip before (obviously) and I rarely use viewtrip (got bored with tripit etc). If my TA uses Galileo (viewtrip) and QF uses Amadeus (checkmytrip), which would be the better web site to look at?

TBH, I just usually look at the web site of the airline involved to check on my flights. Am I missing anything in not using the 'check/view' sites?

Viewtrip and checkmytrip display the e-ticket numbers. Everything else go to the airline's site.
