My wife & I had to go to the UK as her mum was diagnosed as terminally ill, I would not have chosen to travel at this time.

I'm VA plat with a fair few points so booked my wife on a return with Ethiad using my points and myself with cash, in business this as $7k and 200,000(?) points plus $1.8k tax.

Just before we were due to fly back the UAE stopped all transit and our flights were cancelled, had to rebook (at considerable cost) on QF2 direct from LHR to DRW then onto Sydney, at least we made it in before the hotel quarantine and we're currently in self-isolation at home.

I'm wondering how I get the refund for the return leg? Its about $3500 (paid flight) plus 100,000 points plus $1200 in taxes. VA are basically not answering the phone (their IVR sends you to their website) and I've done an online enquiry but no reply.

I fully understand they're busy sorting this all out but as my booking has disapeared from from my VFF account I'm wondering what will happen next. I'd really prefer cash than a travel credit as its a fair sum and I'm out a lot from the extra flight I had to book on QF.

Any suggestions?

Dispute the cash ticket with your credit card company.

Or if you believe in miracles, accept the Virgin IOU travel bank credit. :D

The points wil arrive back in due course. Being usable for what, is anyone's guess right now.
