Emailed a claim into TID on the 6th July, with their allowance of 10 days to respond and then another 10 days plus to process I ended up getting paid on the 26th August. I was mugged in Naples, nothing major and no injuries suffered. TID have been nice to deal with.

Is this the normal time frame for travel claims to be dealt with ? I have never claimed before so I have no comparison.
thanks

You have to give the insurer time to investigate the claim so see if the event falls within the policy T&C's, etc etc, but I think less than a month between lodging a claim and receiving payment is quite reasonable.

Yep to me under a month is ok to me. Of course the more info u provide to answer any possible questions could speed things up.

My only experience claiming on travel insurance was with TID back in 2008 and had a very pleasant experience.

I wait almost 12 months before claiming for delayed luggage and took the form in to them and the claim was finalised within 2 weeks even with them asking for further information.
