Hi

Bit of a rock and a hard place.

In the last 12 months I have flown an incredibly small amount in comparison to the previous year. As a result, my hard earned and very happy to have SQ *Gold will be expiring on 31st July.

To renew the SQ *G I need an amazing 43,000 miles.

My new thought is to do the AA challenge, get 20,000 miles (a trip to the US via STL & YVR) - this would give me the equivalent of Qantas Gold & the lounge.

Edit: I thought I got & extra 10kg. This appears to not be the case.

I'd prefer to keep with star alliance tho.

If I flew a 'circle pacific' business class - would that be enough to rack up 43,000 miles? I have customers in Singapore, Seoul & want visit Canada.

Is there some kind of United challenge that I could take up (it seems that there once was, but no longer is)

Could I get United to status match, somehow?

No, it does not give you Qantas Gold FF status. It gives you AA Platinum and OneWorld Sapphire status, neither of which provides additional baggage allowance on Qantas flights. OneWorld Sapphire status does give you lounge access when flying with QF.

You'd be unlikely to get another *A carrier to status match *A status. But I know of people who have been successful so who knows.

It would appear that 26,000 miles is the maximum mileage permitted.

Star Alliance Circle Pacific Fare FAQ

Q: Through which regions do I have to travel and what is the maximum allowed mileage of the Circle Pacific Fare?
A: Your journey needs to include only one crossing of the North and Central Pacific region as well as only one crossing of the South Pacific region. Between Asia and the South West Pacific not more than one crossing is included in the Circle Pacific Fare.

Depending on your routing the maximum allowed mileage of the Circle Pacific Fare is either 22,000 or 26,000 miles.
