jetlagger, when you describe DRW's international transit passenger area as 'charming' do you mean 'old fashioned', 'decaying', 'boring', 'cramped' or something else?

Are there any shops at all airside that as a transit passenger on PR one can access? Are they open at 0430 or so when PR touches down daily from MNL before proceeding to either PER (4x weekly) or BNE (3 x weekly)? (I assume that any DRW airside shops would be open at 1330 when PR northbound to MNL should be on the ground in DRW.
Basically it is a holding pen.

The coffee shop was also open on the inbound leg.

I just treat it as if I was on the aircraft. Just sat in my seat, continued my book.

So Albatross.... where did you clear customs on your way back to Brisbane? Darwin or Brisbane?

We cleared customs and collected checked bags in Brisbane.

At Darwin we were offloaded and took all of our 'cabin' belongings with us. On the way to the Transit Lounge we were scanned and screened. I was lucky travelling in J I was through this process in about 6 minutes. Some of the PAX were still in the queue 45 minutes. 60 minutes later we were back on the aircraft. I was back asleep 1 minutes later.

Cheers
