This is a brilliant idea - my kids are a few years off this (hasn't stopped them asking though!) but I will be sure to give them this contract. Might be a good idea to make once when they get a car too.

Thats an ok idea for a 13 year old, but chances are that once he turns 14 or 15 he wont give a bugger about any written contract with his mum.

He is obviously the oldest and she has not really experienced the teenage years yet. Then again she might be lucky and its worth a try.

Not sure why this is even on a news website though, just because it isnt written and presented with the phone most parents have rules around phone usage. Writing them down doesnt really ensure they will be followed, could they not just have discussed the rules?

Some of the rules were really strange, and as I mentioned on Facebook (where this was also posted), number 17 is a strange thing to be telling a child... "Talk to a stranger"! :p

This contract should be mandatory for each and every one of us when acquiring a phone

I'm still abit puzzled as to why people give $800+ phone's to Kids.. Sign of the times I guess...

The rules themselves are a joke though; 8:45pm curfew for him, no Mainstream music, rule 6 seems like common sense (Most of them do actually), and I'm sure rule 18 will be on repeat afew times, particular as he gets older...

15 minutes of fame grab! Dumb...

If her 13yo is the same as mine then these rules will be broken in a matter of days. I don't mind the idea, however expecting a teenager to follow the terms of a contract like this is a pipe dream in my opinion.
