Next month we will be within the 330 days from travel date to book the MP award BNE RAR. Just wondering what the taxes are running if anyone has done this recently?

PER-AKL-PPT was $110, I'm guessing yours will be similar or less. Not that they ever charged me the $110, so if you're lucky it will be free.

Nice use of UA MP zones :D

IIRC the last time I did this, it took forever for them to charge my credit card but it did eventually come through. They probably send them monthly or fortnightly to the USA to be processed.

Do they book as a UA codeshare or directly on the NZ flight?

I wouldn't expect the UA codeshare unless part of an itinerary that includes UA metal flights, which isn't the case here.

Are these awards usually e-tickets or paper tickets? Last time I redeemed one was in 2004 for travel in 2005. It was paper then but I was able to pick it up in person at the BNE office which is now closed.

Mine to PPT was also e-ticket. I just wish I could check it online somewhere...

Not many airlines offer OLCI for international flights. SQ & BA being two.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That's good, I am glad this will be an e-ticket anyway. Steve, can't you see the itinerary in UA by typing the PNR? I know I was able to get NZ to email me an itinerary but the actual ticket in 2004 was paper. Thanks guys!

No, UA will only show the itinerary if it contains UA flights. There seems to be no way at all to view it online.

Yeah NZ uses their own in house system called Carina. Supposed to be able to view online from a link on NZ website, but only works half the time for me.

Mission accomplished! I got our tickets to RAR for next April. We had to push the outbound ahead one day because the flight I wanted was already sold out. At least I got my first choice on the return!

The Manila call centre lady was a pleasure to deal with. Very efficient and polite, knew what she was doing and booked the flights, confirmed with NZ, charged the taxes and the whole thing took about 10 minutes-she waited for me to check the emailed itinerary to make sure it was what I wanted and the names were spelled correctly. Nice way to kill time while everyone else was in a meeting!

The taxes came to $170 AUD for the two of us, it is an E-ticket and we'll just have to see how long it takes to show up on Amex.

BTW, I couldn't find X seats on Expert Flyer, I got a vague idea from ANA which I only joined to look at *A awards.

Well, that's it! I spent all but a couple hundred miles so bye bye *A!!

Steve, I'm not as lucky as you are. The taxes hit my Amex a couple days ago.

Unlucky... I'm a bit surprised your taxes were so much. Mine were only $110.

That was for both of us. $85 each. We have to pay $25 NZD in RAR on the return flight.

Did you eventually get charged, Steve?
