What are your most comfortable travel clothes?

I've usually used slightly stretchy cotton jeans (not denim but more like chinos kind of fabric), polo shirts and thin wool sweaters (e.g. a simple Uniqlo sweater) and leather sneakers. But wouldn't mind something more comfy, especially for long flights.

At the same time, I'd like to look decent and ready to walk out of the plane. With that I mean that no sweatsuits, and god forbid me walking around an airport in a QF pyjama or similar. 🥸

The question is about male clothing but ladies and everyone else would equally enjoy comfy trips so keep coming with all ideas.

I really like Kathmandu's 'Flight Pants' (which also come in shorts). You can usually pick these up on the cheap, the shorts version cost me $30. The pants look quite stylish and almost pass for smart-casual. And, I've hiked in them as well as a type of cargo pant. And all they were designed for was sitting in a plane seat, which is pretty cool. I'm in NZ right now which is why this URL is regionalised, but I'm sure you can track the right one down. Should be able to get them much cheaper than this Kathmandu NZ

Smart casual, nothing less. Some sort of polo shirt/business shirt with slacks and my trusty black jacket. I used to wear black leather shoes but feet swell too much so now wear runners with socks.

No shorts. No t-shirts. No thongs. No sandals. No barefoot. No pyjamas. No tracksuit pants.

Thanks, I'll check them out when in a Kathmandu store next time. The long ones go for $130 now but perhaps they'll be 1/2 price at some point (and with better stock availability than seems to be today).

I love jersey materials for flights - smart casual and stretchy heaven. I'm a fan of a short sleeve top paired with a mid-length flowy skirt.

Feels like I dress exactly the same - would generally add a coat, mainly in case the cabin is cold/there aren't any blankets (I'm very often in whY), but I feel like what you've described is a good level of comfort-cross-style

Agree re the flight pants. Discovered them a couple of years ago. Super comfy, light, wrinkle free, water phobic. Smart enough for business casual.

No zip or button closure on pockets for security?

As an alternative to the Kathmandu flight pants (which I have also worn a lot), the Lululemon Commission pants are excellent. Slightly dressier but just as comfortable. Rear pockets have snaps (slightly more secure than the flight pants) and there is a small side zip pocket. If travelling to a cooler destination, I will wear stretch denim jeans and pack these.

Up top is always a short sleeve white t-shirt (cotton or 50/50 poly/cotton) under a proper button-up shirt with a pocket (even in whY).

Proper shoes, usually brown leather Kathmandu goretex-lined walking shoes.

Sometimes cargo shorts, sometimes sport shorts, sometimes jeans, usually a golf shirt (non-crease poly type material), sometimes runners, sometimes leather shoes, sometimes sandals.

Usually change into QF pj pants (grey) and VA pj top (black) after take off (and change back at commencement of descent) for long haul flights.

Comfort and practicality are the priority.

Reckon the old black VA 'sleep suits' are some of the best PJs ever!. For flying.

Yes, I like the Kathmandu Flight pants and have done a few trips in them. I’ve recently bought some items from Ministry of Supply and Bluffworks in the US. The MoS pants and polo are excellent and probably a touch smarter looking but super comfortable. I have a blazer from Bluffworks I’m looking forward to wearing at some point. Stretchy and good pockets plus ups the smart casual look nicely.

Country road travel edits are great.

I flew across to CHC from SYD (Mon) and vv (Tue) this week - status run chasing QF platinum - on outward leg I had to grab blanket to stay warm, on return I got apology, no blanket. Had 1D on both legs.

I promised myself to take blanket on my next trip to keep warm.
