MOREE IS BACK ON THE QANTAS MAP

Sydney Posted on 21st February 2014

Qantas has welcomed the decision by Transport NSW to grant Qantas the license to operate on the Moree – Sydney regulated route.

QantasLink Chief Executive Officer John Gissing said that Qantas was thrilled to be returning to Moree on a permanent basis.

“We are really pleased to be staying in Moree, providing a great service that the people of Moree and district can rely on” said Mr Gissing.

“QantasLink proudly served the Moree community for 21 years up until March last year, and we know a lot of people were delighted when we returned temporarily a couple of months ago.

“The Moree community’s campaign to get Qantas to return permanently was nothing short of extraordinary, and their unwavering support for the airline was truly overwhelming.

“I’m pleased to announce that from 22 March we will offer increased capacity with two daily return services during the week and one daily return service on the weekend, with a larger Q300, 50 seat aircraft on most morning services.

“As the national carrier, and the country’s largest regional airline, we understand the importance of reliable air travel for regional communities, like Moree.

QantasLink will operate 12 return flights a week via a mix of Bombardier Q300 50 seat aircraft and Q200 36 seat aircraft each week, which equates to just over 1000 seats per week.

Qantas launched immediate short-term relief flights for the Moree community before Christmas last year, following the collapse of Brindabella Airlines, which operated on the route from March 2013.

AIRwin has lost out to QF, having recently operated a one-off service through Moree (MRZ) with the routing MEL-ABX-CWT-DBO-MRZ-BNE

Great news, with the loss of Aero Pelican to Moree & Narrabri my trips have been via Tamworth and drive 2-4hrs. Looking forward to it. Now is a Q lounge to much to ask ?

Nice work by the people of Moree. I can now fly up to watch the Weebolla Bulls.

I saw another ad somewhere about a aviation mob being delayed in starting in Narrabri ? I see if I can find the link or ad it showed a set of stair and being a few more step to go before their can start.

Good for the burgers of Moree, but not a service I'm likely to use, I did travel there by BAM once and it had to have a guard on it while visiting the RSL Club for dinner.

With couple more coal mines slated for the nearby farmlands, there could be the economies.
