Hi all,

Currently looking at an Europe trip and my itinerary is over the 90 day period allowed for Australian Citizens (At about 115 days atm).

What do I need to do to be able to stay this long?

Please advise

THANKS!

You could either apply for a visa (please provide a list of countries so that we may suggest the best option), or you could always leave the Schengen Area and head to London for a couple of days... while still part of the EU, they are not part of the Schengen Area (you will get a UK entry stamp). You can then return to the Schengen Area (with a new entry stamp), and complete the rest of your trip. IIRC the limit for Australian passports in the Schengen Zone is 180d/6m over a 12m period (regardless of entries/exits)? Perhaps that should be double-checked haha! :)

EDIT: Sorry - this advice is incorrect! Australian citizens have "Visa-free access to the Schengen Area for 90 days in any half year period". Longer stays will require a Long-Stay Visa. Though I was correct about the UK - time spent there (and in Ireland) does not count towards the 90 days in the Schengen Area (for the reason mentioned above). Australian passports entering the UK are given visa-free access for up to 6 months at a time.

As you know what the Schengen Area is (most people would pull a strange face), I probably don't need to remind you of the other European countries that are not part of the agreement ;)

If it 'resets' each time by leaving the Schengen area. Then I should be fine.

Ill be doing 5 days UK at the start of my trip and Croatia about 60-70 days into my trip (which should 'reset' the quota?)

Thanks mate.

Means I need to get a visa for Europe. Which country should I apply the visa for? As I will be traveling to about 10 different countries within the area

thanks again!
