More Tassie flights

With all those extra business travellers surely an HBA lounge upgrade can't be that far away? :)

Excellent! Although there might go my need (and desire) to overnight in SYD before flying out to LAX. Great to see schedules that allow HBA based business people to spend a full working day in SYD (as well as MEL) and are able to be back home, same day.

I can confirm that Tas inbound tourism has gone nuts this year.

Is this due to extra B717 aircraft coming into the fleet, or is it cutting back use of B717 services elsewhere? Either way its good news from QFLink and lets hope they can improve the on-time stats for the B717 fleet which were lower than desired due to weather plus reliability if I remember?

According to the press release, it's thanks to 2 more 717's entering the fleet.

What about an ADL-HBA flight one day...... ahhhh.......

Brisbane would be ahead of Rads surely?

Big increase for Tassie from QF - the MONA effect continues! Now they need more hotels... Cannot believe how expensive HBA is!

Virgin used to have HBA-ADL (717) but that went ages ago and currently does have HBA-BNE; doubt capacity exists for QF service, especially after increase to SYD etc.

Recent tourist upsurge is more an A$ effect than MONA by industry accounts; as to hotels - well, if we manage to tow the various anti development Greens led NIMBYs out to sea, some more proposals might get up.

Too right!
Let's put roads through the Tarkine.
Clear fell that old growth forest.
Dam the rivers.
Mine everything we can.
Then the tourists will have easy access to the wilderness areas we .. oh wait ..

If that is Tasmanian "logic", how soon can we sell Tasmania to NZ?

I'm not sure, but I don't think some posts here are strictly on-topic ;) . "More Tassie Flights". Hmmmm. :D

Didn't know VA had expanded their fleet to include the 717 ;) Guessing it was a jungle jet operation.

I think as WA winds back to normality after the boom there may be additional capacity freed up to allocate back to the east coast, especially now QF are folding Network Aviation formally into QFLink.

QF are certainly being very dynamic and aggressive opening new routes and adding capacity ATM where they think they can make it work.

<snip>.

Oops, yes, it was an Embraer 190;I remember a couple of very bumpy rides with severe crosswinds.

New schedule looks great. Good move I think.

Some more mel - ool must be in the pipeline some day too if its a success when it starts next month. I could see the 717 on that route.

Or bring back the HBA-CBR direct services. It is a PITA connecting.

Hobart is fast becoming a Foodie haven with some top-notch Restaurants that rivals those in Sydney & Melbourne.

And with a flood of Local and overseas tourists making the pilgrimage to MONA, no wonder Hobart is growing in popularity.

Sorry but that would require flying "over seas" and you know Qantas does not want Adelaide to have those!

JQ will have direct BNE-HBA flights over the summer as well.
