This story is indicative of the sort of things happening with the floods across Australia at the moment, the below picture is from http://www.animalsaustralia.org/features/qld-floods-devastate-wildlife.php:

A WILDLIFE warrior who risked his life to rescue a kangaroo in Queensland's floods is a former Melbourne resident who left Victoria six years ago because he "couldn't stand the weather". Ray Cole, a father of five, was cheered by onlookers but threatened with arrest by police when he waded into turgid waters to pluck the drowning joey to safety.Mr Cole said he "couldn't stand there and watch our coat of arms just drown". "When I was growing up on the streets of Preston we learned and lived by the motto that you reach out and help others," Mr Cole said............The RSPCA is getting 100 calls a minute from distressed animal owners unable to get to their pets.

Queensland floods: Cheers for our kangaroo rescuer | Herald Sun

As you can see, even the homes around the DJ HQ near my work in Albion will have issues affecting animals as well as humans, so all help is very much welcome.

I went Silver- but I donated a little directly to the RSPCA before I noticed the AFF donation.. Happy to help.

big thank you to you bossreggie for your huge genorosity

UPDATE: As at 10:30am today we have raised $1,530. :) :)

This includes a number of donations (some more than the required $50 to enter the draw) from existing paid members.

We exceeded our initial target of $1,000, then exceeded our revised target of $1,500 - now lets aim for $2,000.

Remember that your full payment will be donated. For paid memberships, AFF will be covering the Paypal costs and GST - what you pay is what you donate!

We did it!! We have raised our (revised up x 2) target of $2,000!!

This will cover the cost of renting a helicopter to support rescue efforts - kind of appropriate for a frequent flyer community!

A MASSIVE thank you to all who contributed.

We will be announcing the winners (as well as the process used to randomly select the winners) a bit later. To ensure transparency and no bias, the process doen't involve only myself. So it will take a bit of time. Please be patient!

One other thing for those who subscribed to paid AFF membership for the Appeal: Please be aware that it is an annual membership. If you don't wish to continue your paid membership in future years, be sure to cancel the Paypal subscription prior to the anniversary of the paid subscription . You do this via your Paypal account. This will ensure that no future deduction to AFF are made from your Paypal account. Your paid membership to AFF will remain active for the period you paid.

Thanks again!!

I am really PROUD of everyone who donated to the cause and who took out a membership.

Thank you very much to Admin for his generosity. I PERSONALLY appreciate everyone contributing and I thank you all.

I have made a decision to match the contribution from AFF members $ for $ and I am grateful for all who have given.

I'm already a gold member and my membership doesn't expire for a few weeks but my late mum was a longtime supporter of the work that the RSPCA does so I will be sending a cheque for $250.00 directly to them.(admin I will PM you for the address)
Cheers

I have no idea how I managed to miss this thread (I donated anyway so it would not have changed that) but the chance to cruise down to JanJuc with the top down would have been fun.

Now to arrange the trip to Melbourne for the prize, am thinking it will have to involve a JQ visit to the SYD Flounge of course

Princess.... If I can hook you up with an invite to CL on your way to MEL please let me know. It will be a privilege to hand you the keys to a car.
