QF have confirmed its 400 but not the location, throwing BNE into the mix:

Qantas will sack about 400 workers from across its heavy maintenance bases.
The airline has confirmed the workers will be axed but a spokeswoman said it was uncertain which of the three bases - Avalon and Tullamarine in Victoria, and Brisbane - will shed the jobs. The decision will be made within weeks.
‘‘The significant reduction of maintenance required on our aircraft means we do not need three separate maintenance bases,’’ she said.

Someone is going around the Mel F lounge today flipping over all the Herald Suns so the sports section is facing up. When I saw the front cover I worked out why!

Well all the strikes and threats from their union just give the airline more reason to sack them.........if they were so efficient, the jobs wouldn't go.
