Looks like QF is going to trial a new way for QFF members that have at least 500,000 points in the bank to redeem their rewards.

It will be targeted (so not everyone with that size of a balance will get to take part), with initial invites going out tomorrow (March 24).

First experiences are likely to be NBA themed.

Qantas trials ‘money can’t buy’ experiences using points (Point Hacks)

Didn't they already do this kind of thing prior to the pandemic? With the bidding for experiences, hiring the Dash8 and so on?

either way why not? reduce some liability for high points holders and give some great experiences.

I'm points rich so could be interested in the right kind of thing. We'll see.

Yeah they've done auctions before, but this looks like experiences that can be bought at a fixed (premium) amount. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

I was going post earlier that I thought this was rehashing something that launched just before Covid? About the time of the auctions for stuff - but maybe it had a false start thanks to Covid…?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well, I’ve just received an invite to attend the NBA game in New Orleans (I’ll be in the USA already). 500k points. Pass.

What a strange one to begin with... an event in an overseas country... in a city Qantas doesn't fly to.
In 10 days time and doesn’t include flights! Even from LAX - which I guess they know I’m flying into / out of over that period but will be heading north…

Usual QFF fluff. Money can very easily buy these types of experiences.

More interesting question is what CPP are you getting for this experience.

Looks like you can get row 3 tickets right behind the home team for $558 each. Even if you double the price (to include tax & some of the other trinkets) and convert to AUD, you're paying 500K for $AUD1500 in value. Terrible terrible value.
