I have a SIM I'd like to "park" - essentially keep it and not let it expire, but perhaps also forward calls from it to my main number. I certainly don't need two numbers, but have ended up with two, so may as well make hay while the sun shines.

My current main mobile is with Telstra on a Business plan (with the new iPhone 6). The new number is registered with Vodafone.

For those in the know, what's the best (cheapest) way of doing this, and do you think it's worth choosing Optus so I can grab some extra Qantas points along the way?

The Optus "My Prepaid" plan has 6 month expiry for $10 recharge, if you're not going to be using it for calls that's probably the cheapest way to keep the number alive.

Ooh I didn't see that, I thought they'd all gone to 30 days.

That being said, I was just informed that if I set up a diversion to my main number, that uses credit (naive me thought it was free). :p

I think you can still pick up an ALDI Mobile SIM (uses 'part of' the Telstra NextG Network) with $15 credit and 365-day expiry for $15.

mrpooky.

That's a great price, wonder if I can port to them though.

I think I have to decide if I want to park it or redirect calls more now.

Pretty sure you can port with ALDI.
