MNL->SYD Manilia Airport 2nd screening all water liquids confiscated.

Went trough Manilia airport recently. Got through 1st major screening and xray rather easilly.Topped up my empty water bottle at an airport water machine after screening.
Then at gate 109 (Cebu Pacific) where you are in the sterile area next to the gate going to the plane, another search for all pax. No X-ray machine, but 10 humans opening each and every bag and having a very good rummage. Yup, all liquids confiscated.

So I looked to top up my water bottle again - no water dispenser. I was told it was Australian Government policy that no liquids could be taken aboard.
Is this true?

I've been through the same searches at BKK and HKG airport when flying to Australia.

At BKK you go into a pen where there is a toilet and water dispenser so no issue there. At HKG the final search and seizure was just near the plane door.

“Protection” of Australian dirt free outlets here.

Don't know if that's entirely applicable to MNL ... unless it has changed recently, MNL has never been terribly competitive as far as DF prices goes.

Same thing happened to me at DPS before a Jetstar flight. Drinks confiscated at the gate.

Which reminds me...prior to my unintentional visit to Manila, the secondary screening bloke in HKG took my toothpaste. I was back there a month or so later, and ran into the same bloke....and told him that my aeroplane still blew up. Straight over his head, but I was amused.

I should have placed a smiley in my response, as it is the reason that always gets thrown up in this topic;);)

ethernet, I see it was T3 for 5J,

The T2 checks (PR) used to be very strict but earlier this year they weren't as 'bad' and there were only some passengers whose bags were given the 3rd degree manual search.

Agree that MNL duty free prices are uncompetitive, but that's a comment I'd make about Oz as well - Dan Murphys or BWS are the go.

Amazing that you would remember a face in that sort of situation.
