Missed QF3 - moved to Hawaiian

Airlines (and not just Qantas) make decisions based on what they know at the time of the decision. That it turns out to be wrong sometimes is just one of those things.

Indeed. I've been re-booked onto flights before that were then cancelled within 5 minutes of receiving my new boarding pass!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. Here’s hoping the return journey this Saturday is without incident!

Bit like managing to change to an earlier flight, that ends up leaving after your original flight
That's the main reason I stopped accepting earlier flights.

Oh that and 6D is much more comfortable than 29E. ;)

If you're retro-claiming Velocity points (and status credits) on the Hawaiian flight, be sure to keep your boarding pass as Hawaiian is terrible at awarding points (and to claim, you usually have to send Velocity your boarding pass and ticket, so they can confirm the fare type etc).

Was odd - I flew return with them last year, got points automatically for the returning flight but not for the outbound leg. Send boarding pass + ticket off to Velocity and points and status credits eventually credited manually.

EXACTLY the same for me!
