Been trying to book either to/from SYD YVR or YMQ or NYC for travel in September 2018. Like many MilesPlus members I want to lock it in before the devaluation.
There are no UA options that far out - only partners. AC was showing lots of J availability earlier this week and it looked good until I got through to payment. Every time, on lots of different routes and dates, I'd get an error on the last step. I went back as far as 4 July 2018 and it's the same thing.
I called about it and customer support got the same thing. After a long investigation she said the AC flights were not really available, they were only in there by mistake. That's pretty darn annoying.
I did manage to secure 2 x J SYD to NYC in late August, but it's via ICN with an overnight layover (I don't want it). Any other time I'd be more philosophical and accept the cost of changing my itinerary later, but I won't have the points after 1 November and I've maxed out my purchase for the year. Oh well ... ICN here we come.
