Hi Guys & Gals,
I logged into my mileage plus account to check on seat award availability and discovered that business class award tickets between Aus & US are now 150,000 miles.

In June 04 I secured three tickets for 270,000 (90,000 each), so no doubt the rules have changed, I just had no idea that this had happened and obviously dont recall any communication from ual to that effect.

Can someone help me out here as to when this happened? I'm not happy about having my miles devalued by 60%.

Thanks in advance,
The Baldman :D

Hi baldman and welcome to AFF,

If you look about 9 lines down the UA index there is a topic from clifford that talks about this. See http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/discus/viewtopic.php?t=438

I hope this helps. :D :D

Hi Bill,

thanks for the e. I had read Clifford's post. It seemed to me to refer to a change of interpretation in redeeming miles. What I'm referring to is that UAL seem to have just changed by 60%+ the amount of miles you need to redeem point to point aus-usa return.

Have I missed something?

cheers

Hi baldman,

The mystery is solved.

The 150,000 miles are for a "Standard" award, ie one that's not capacity controlled. "Saver" awards are still available at 90,000 miles, but obviously, they're much harder to get. Check out the website (www.united.com) and all will be explained in some detail.

You pays your money and you takes your choice.

thanks Clifford. The scare has reinforced for me that FF's need to burn the points as they are accruing them; lest the airlines take em anyway!
