I’ve just checked in on an upcoming trip to KL this Sunday and my passport wouldn’t verify as my middle is missing from my ticket. Am i going to face any issue with the fact that my passport has a middle name that isn’t showing on my ticket?

For most of my travel parties on the traditional national flag carriers, I usually have our tickets booked with just the first and last name and leave out the middle names. As long as the machine readable part of the passport has the last name and first name matching and in the order for the ticket’s first name and last name fields, then the part after the single < character for middle name(s) generally aren’t necessary in the booking at time of ticketing. The airlines can add in the middle names for APIS/immigration type requirements any way if it’s necessary for that purpose.

While airlines prefer that you book the way as suggested in the following link:

I’ve never had a show-stopper for my international trips around Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe where we booked travel with just a first and last name in the original ticketed booking and left out the middle names — but when dealing with people, there are always some exceptions that go outside the norm even as it’s rare to have a problem over this when having a passport from OECD countries.

When check-in online or the app doesn’t work with legacy major airlines, it typically works fine for such situations with manual check-in at the airport.
